Loaves and Fishes

Loaves and Fishes CDC believes that a healthy community can be achieved only when all of its citizens have access to the basic needs of life, such as food, clothing, shelter, education, employment, and a sound spiritual foundation. From this premise, the organization, in keeping with Christian principles and ethics, will work to provide these basic necessities for the needy citizens living in the communities and in the surrounding areas which it serves.

Our hours of operation are:
9:00 - 11:00 am on the second and third Tuesday of each month
5:00 - 7:00 pm on the fourth Tuesday of each month

We are available for emergencies or dire circumstances 24/7 by calling our president, Sue Freeland at 734-5857.

The Mission
Loaves and Fishes Community Development Corporation was organized in May 2006 to serve the needy citizens in Dexter, Hagerman, Lake Arthur and the surrounding area. Founded on the Christian principle from Luke 10:27 when Jesus tells us to love our neighbor as our self, food pantry operations are carried out by volunteers of all ages, religious denominations and walks of life. The organization currently helps from 80 to 100 families (approximately 350 - 400 men, women and children) on a monthly basis. Gifts of food, funds, time and materials are given as an extension of God’s love for mankind by area residents and organizations. The foodstuffs given out are donated or purchased through individual donations and/or grant monies received by the corporation.

Recipients must live within the Dexter, Hagerman or Lake Arthur zip codes of the Pecos Valley. They are asked to bring proof of address and identify the reason their circumstances make them eligible to receive provisions. Each individual seeking help is treated with kindness and respect as the volunteers work to provide opportunities for meeting both their physical and spiritual needs through the distribution of food, clothing, prayer and genuine concern.
